FTA offers a user-friendly web-based platform for developing an FTA-compliant drug and alcohol policy.  After responding to a few questions regarding agency-specific policy decisions, the FTA Policy Builder will generate a downloadable policy in an editable Microsoft Word format. 

FTA periodically releases a newsletter to provide regulatory clarification, rule interpretations and guidance to aid FTA-covered employers in maintaining a compliant drug and alcohol testing program.  Current and previous issues of the newsletters are an extremely valuable resource for program managers.

TSI is the "teaching arm" of the USDOT and offers 2 FTA-sponsored courses related to FTA drug and alcohol testing programs: 

1. The 3-day Substance Abuse Management and Program Compliance course (FT00465) is geared toward transit professionals responsible for managing their employer's FTA drug and alcohol testing program.
2. The 4-hour Reasonable Suspicion and Post-Accident Testing Determination seminar is geared toward supervisors and other company officials who are authorized by their employer to make reasonable suspicion and post accident testing determinations when the FTA thresholds are met.  This seminar meets the FTA requirements per 49 CFR Part 655.14 (b)(2).
