These rules cover the technical aspects of the testing process, to include how specimens are collected and analyzed, how results are reported and the important employee protections that must be followed to ensure fairness and accuracy of DOT test results.
The Federal Transit Administration's Prevention of Alcohol Misuse and Prohibited Drug Use in Transit Operations regulation is codified as 49 CFR Part 655. These rules cover the testing of employees in transit workplaces.
